If You Have Netflix, Watch This Now
I love Netflix. Orange is the New Black, Gossip Girl, Jane the Virgin, if its trashy TV I’ve probably seen it! BUT, and this is a big but, not all of Netflix is your addictive rubbish TV; theres a film on there that has literally changed the way I look at life and it’s really worth a watch!
I’m so big on personal development and finding new ways to improve myself and to help others love themselves is a big part of this blog and what I do. So when I say the trailer for ‘Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru’ I knew I had to watch it!
I’d never actually heard of Tony Robbins before this, but now I wish I had! For those that don’t know he’s an American motivational speaker and life coach, and by gosh does he know what he’s doing!
(I should say now, don’t watch this film if you need to be any where afterwards. I made this mistake. It’s quite an emotionally rich film so you may find yourself crying at times which isn’t good if you have to be at work in ten minutes like I did!)
Although it is emotionally rich, this shouldn’t put you off! For me I hate crying at films but I found the insane power and raw feeling this film gives you you can’t help but feel affected and connected.
A brief description of the film: Tony Robbins runs a 6 day seminar called ‘Date With Destiny’ and the film is effectively a documentary of this event. You get to witness his interventions with the audience to hear some incredibly moving stories from peoples lives. Some of it is shocking and quite honestly unbelievable but the rawness of the film allows you to somehow connect to the stories and it just incredible to watch.
The transformation Robbins has on the lives of these people is inspirational. Never before have a been so moved to tears and liberated by someone. Robbins looks a bit like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in his figure; very talk and broad and strong and with the deep strong voice to match. The juxtaposition of this tough guy exterior with this man of such compassion, warmth and heart really just makes everything so much more intense.
The documentary has changed the way I see my life and those around me. I was already someone that values kindness but now I value it so much more. You never know how one small sentence could change someone’s life. You never know the inner battles of the mind of someone. They could be the strongest looking individual on the planet that always looks so happy and cheery, but on the inside they could be fighting the darkest of battles.
To me this documentary stresses this so much. You should never ever judge someone by how they look or even how they act. Treat everyone kindly and with compassion for you never know what could really be going on behind closed doors.
Be kind to all those you meet. Smile at them, engage with them. Don’t just treat them as another face in the crowd. At the end of the day we are all humans living on the same planet, all trying to achieve the same goal of happiness. It’s about realising that to be happy we have to give happiness to others. It’s a similar principle to the Law of Attraction.
So next time you go on Netflix watch this film and honestly it will change your life! Never before have I been so moved and inspired by watching a show. I felt like Robbins was talking to me even though it was prerecorded ages ago in America and I was watching it from my bedroom in the UK. I felt a part of something so much bigger than some seminar. It was a movement. A vision of change. A date with destiny.
