2017 Reflections

Wow what a year 2017 has been for me. Is it cliché to say it’s been one of the best years ever?! Because it really has. Not only have I done some unbelievable things (did I mention I’ve been to South East Asia?) but I’ve also learnt so much and grown a great deal as a person. I’ve begun making some major life decisions in 2017 too so that’s a great way to start off 2018 eh?!

In case you hadn’t noticed I did go on a holiday of a lifetime this year. So I feel that alone will make this year one of the best of my life ever. Not only did I get to travel and experience amazing new things but I got to do it all with Josh and that just makes everything so much better!

I saw the world in a totally different way and it helped me to realise what I want from my life. It truly was a life changing experience regardless of how cheesy that sounds! I 100% want to go back to visit Vietnam, it was the most intriguing place and the food was incredible! Plus the people were so friendly and I still can’t believe how cheap it all was!

Aside from my 5 week whirlwind of a summer holiday, I’ve had a fab year in other aspects too. I’ve got so much healthier with regards to both my diet and my fitness. Cutting out dairy was the best decision I ever made and my body is certainly thanking me for it. I’ve felt so much healthier and full of energy. I’ve also learnt so much about my body too; earlier this year I had a really strict gym routine that I lost over the summer and now I’m slowly building it back up. I’ve learnt more about my body and seen the amazing things it’s capable of so that’s pretty cool.

I’ve learnt some amazing things too when it comes to personal development.

Meditation and mindfulness has become a much larger part of my everyday life and I thank myself so much for making it part of my routine. I sleep better, am more focused and generally a happier person. It’s helped bring me clarity and strength in tough times and without it I wouldn’t have achieved some of the things I have this year.

I can’t recommend personal development enough. I will try to include more about it on the blog in the coming year too. Your future self will thank you for giving personal development a go – trust me!

Of course there’s things I wish I could have done differently this year. For one, this blog. At the start of the year I was so raring to go with a new and improved LaLiviLou; I had blog goals to hit and I couldn’t wait to smash them. And then, I lost my discipline with my blog. I posted less frequently, and as a result my progress suffered. It’s not that I write this blog to get famous, because trust me I know that isn’t going to happen for me. I write because I enjoy it, and I love it when I see people love reading my content too! I want this blog to grow back to the strength it once had, but I definitely need to pull my finger out to do so.

But, don’t worry I’m still proud of what I’ve done with this blog. It’s something I hope I never have to stop doing. So I’m just going to keep doing me haha.

I’ll be doing a post soon on my goals for next year. I know I didn’t meet all my 2017 goals, but a girl can try! I had a lot on and all that.
